Another of the basic four food groups for junk food junkies is the hamburger. If you do not think this to be the case, McDonald's has served literally billions of them all over the world. No other food is so universally known as representative of American cuisine as the hamburger.
I cannot think of anything better than a really good hamburger on a fresh, homemade bun. But fond memories are all that shall remain. The problem here is the combining of a protein and a starch in the same meal which will add to digestive problems when your body needs all the nutrients it can get.
I do, however, have an alternative. To the right is a 3 oz hamburger as a sandwich with a slice of tomato and a slice of onion both top and bottom.
Again, I do not use or recommend adding salt or black pepper. Nor do I use catsup (added sugar) or prepared mustard, pickle relish, mayonnaise, etc... I due use powdered cayenne pepper for flavor. You can add Romaine lettuce leaves, a sprig of parsley, a sprig of cilantro, etc...
Enjoy this with a good salad of mixed greens (no ice burg lettuce), or fresh vegetables such as green beans, broccoli, asparagus, etc.
