Bruce was born in Southeast Wisconsin in 1948.
He has owned several manufacturing businesses and worked over 20 years as a contract mechanical engineer and management consultant. He has also worked as an electrician, a carpenter, a commercial photographer, a tool and die maker, taught numerous classes and lectured on self help programs, gourmet cooking, and theology, and managed several fast food businesses. In addition, he has written a number of articles and newspaper columns on wilderness survival, gourmet cooking, and firearms repair and restoration.
He has traveled extensively (more than 40 countries) and has numerous hobbies including reading, cooking, hunting, fishing, and astronomy.
He is married and has 2 grown children and two grandchildren.
He was diagnosed with stage 4, bi-lateral renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) on 9 November, 2004.
Bruce holds a PhD in counseling and is currently working on degrees in Holistic Nutrition and Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health.
